Even pulling a few late figs off the tree, but the garden news will be quiet for another month or two until we install some more fruit trees. I’ll still post the occasional news link about slow food, industrial ag, etc…
If hot as heck & dry as dust is the new norm in Austin, I’m changing my garden strategy. Even more fruit trees – wait a few years & see if I can get some shadier micro-climate action.
Big fat pears from a first year pear tree. I’m pretty pleased that even with the drought, we at least got these, but I’m not starting any tomatoes or basil til I have some assurances from the weather gods that they are thru messing with us :p

Netted off my pears which are getting ripe. It’s so hot & dry (not a drop of rain here the last few days, even tho the rest of Austin got a few sprinkles) that the only other creature in my yard today was a dragon.

I’m hanging onto my trees by running the drip lines 2ce a day.
& my herb box is death defying but that’s about it.
