I’m a newbie at gardening. I’ve been interested in holistic and sustainable culture for a few decades. I’m a licensed esthetician (skin care specialist), locavorian, vegetarian, and a Vespa riding, green minded gal living in a renewables powered, 600 sq. foot manufactured home named Fig Tree Cottage on a rented plot in Austin Texas with my spouse.
Why a trailer park?, you might ask.
Because we believe in economical eco-mindedness.
Sustainability as a viable goal for the average joe.
So this is our experiment in taking baby steps toward going green on a limited budget.
We wanted to live close enough to our urban center that we wouldn’t need a car much, we wanted to grow a food garden without having to buy land, we wanted a very small home that wouldn’t cost a lot, and we wanted to retain the ability to be somewhat mobile given the shifting economy.
I journal here primarily about urban sustainability, greater Central Texas community self support, localization, environmental issues, anti-consumerism, slow food, climate destabilization and my victory garden. Thank you to everyone who reads this journal and everyone who helps me learn more about being better to this beautiful planet we live on.
